September 2013 Price Chart

New York gold futures have gained more than 8% since the end of June - their first quarterly gain in a year. The performance came from a low base following a spectacular crash in the previous quarter, which included the biggest two-day drop in 30 years. Silver rose 11.5% for the quarter. Nevertheless, the price of both metals ended lower on Monday with gold down US$12.20 at US$1,327 an ounce on the Comex, while silver shed 12 cents to close at US$21.71 an ounce after a poor performance in September.
